Terms of Service

1. Agreement

ShowStat is operated from the United States. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you are using ShowStat for a farm, ranch, chapter or other organization, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms on its behalf.

2. Who can hold an account

You must be at least 18 to create an account. ShowStat is built in part for 4-H and FFA members, many of whom are minors: a parent, guardian, chapter leader or advisor must create and hold the account, and a young person may then use it under that adult's supervision. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will remove it.

3. Plans and billing

• Exhibitor is free for up to 5 animals. There is no card required and no trial clock — it simply stays free.
• Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Account → Plan & Billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not pro-rate part-months.
• Individual accounts receive their first month free with their first device order. Organization accounts receive 50% off their first month instead.
• Prices can change. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a change affects an existing paid plan, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

4. ShowStat devices

• Devices are sold per animal at the price shown at checkout, plus flat-rate shipping. We ship within the United States only.
• Devices are consumable hardware used on live animals in working conditions. We will replace a device that arrives faulty or fails in normal use within 30 days of delivery. We cannot replace devices that are lost, chewed, torn out, or damaged by the animal or by equipment.
• An unused device in its original condition may be returned within 30 days for a refund of the device price. Shipping is not refundable.
• A device is tied to one animal at a time. Reassigning a device to a different animal does not carry the first animal's records with it.

5. Your records

The records you enter are yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your records, display them back to you and to people you choose to share them with, and to include an animal's record in a public profile or marketplace listing when you publish one.

You can export an animal's record at any time. If you close your account we will delete your records within 30 days, except where we are required to keep transaction records for tax and accounting purposes.

6. What tap-verification does and doesn't mean

Editing an animal's record requires a physical tap of that animal's assigned ShowStat device once that device has been delivered, together with a signed-in account that has permission to edit. This makes it substantially harder to fabricate or back-date a record, which is the point.

It is not a guarantee of truth. ShowStat verifies that an entry was made by someone holding the physical tag and signed in to the owning account. It does not verify that what they typed is accurate, that the animal is healthy, or that the animal is what the record says it is. Buyers should carry out their own due diligence.

7. The marketplace

• ShowStat is a venue. Sales are between the buyer and the seller. We are not the seller, not a party to the sale, and not an agent, broker or auctioneer for either side.
• Sellers must own the animals they list, describe them honestly, and hold any registrations they claim. An animal must have a ShowStat device before it can be listed.
• Buyers are responsible for satisfying themselves as to health, soundness, registration and suitability, and for any inspection, health papers, or transport required by their state.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. Disputes about an animal are between buyer and seller; we will help where we reasonably can but we cannot adjudicate them.

8. Acceptable use

• Don't enter records for animals you do not own or care for.
• Don't misrepresent an animal, its history, or its registration.
• Don't attempt to edit records you are not entitled to edit, or to work around device verification.
• Don't scrape, resell or bulk-extract other people's listings or records.
• Don't upload anything unlawful, or anything you don't have the right to upload.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and will tell you why.

9. No veterinary or professional advice

ShowStat records animal health information and includes AI-assisted features that can summarise or suggest. None of it is veterinary advice, and none of it is a substitute for a veterinarian. Withdrawal periods, medication decisions, and fitness for sale or slaughter are your responsibility and your vet's. Do not rely on ShowStat for a decision that affects an animal's welfare or the safety of the food supply.

10. Availability

We work to keep ShowStat running but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue something you are paying for, we will refund the unused portion of that period.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, ShowStat is provided as is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including lost sales, lost profits, or the value of an animal. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Ending your account

You can close your account at any time from Account settings. We may close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or where we are required to. If we close your account other than for breach, we will refund any unused paid period.

13. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, and by using ShowStat you agree that disputes will be handled by the state or federal courts serving that state.
